Suspected drug dealer shot dead

JAKARTA: Police shot dead a suspected drug dealer who was attempting to escape arrest on Wednesday.

Wali, 22, was shot in the chest and died instantly on Jl. Gusti Ngurah Rai, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta.

East Jakarta Police narcotics department head Adj. Comr. Maryadi claimed the suspect ignored warning shots. "He also tried to attack the police," he said.

Police seized eight small packages of putauw, or low-grade heroin, from Wali. -- JP
