Survey on transportation

JAKARTA (JP): The City Administration started a survey on transportation between Blok M and Kota yesterday as a preliminary step to establishing a mass rapid transit system.

Budihardjo Soekmadi, chief of the City Development Planning Agency, who is in charge of the survey, told reporters yesterday that interviews with people frequenting offices, shopping centers and hotels located in the BLok M - Kota corridor were carried out.

"Interviews with bus passengers and data on the number of buses on the Blok M - Kota route and the number of passengers are also required," he said.

The survey is also aimed at learning the public's expectations of mass rapid transport. "Therefore we hope that people will cooperate with us in the survey," he said. (sur)
