Surabaya hotels to raise rates

SURABAYA: Hotel room rates are likely to increase by between 10 and 15 percent around Christmas, an industry head says.

Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Surabaya chairman Yulianto said rates would increase because more tourists were expected in the city during Christmas.

Data shows some 250,000 tourists visited East Java between January and October, 24 percent of them foreigners. The majority were from Singapore. -- Antara
