Surabaya hotels offer special packages

SURABAYS: To raise the level of their occupancy rate, several hotels in Surabaya have improved services to their guests, among other things, by offering them a special package.

Garden Palace Hotel at Jl. Yos Sudarso 11, Surabaya, for example, has introduced its Garden Executive Membership (GEM), a card that will allow the owner to enjoy a variety of facilities such as a 25 percent discount every day on dining, accommodation and banquet facilities.

Besides, a GEM cardholder will also be given a voucher for a two-night free stay in the Excellence room. A cardholder will also be able to enjoy a free dinner in a special event held every month at the Bill Belle Bar & Lounge plus a birthday cake and a bottle each of red and white wine respectively on his or her birthday.

The hotel has also devised a special free cooking class for women. A bachelor will enjoy a discount of up to Rp 5 million when taking a wedding package.

If you wish to have this GEM card, the cost is Rp 999,000. The card is valid for a year.

"Unfortunately, for the time being we will issue only 1,000 cards,' said Adistyarani, the hotel's public relations manager.

Meanwhile, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Majapahit Surabaya is also offering a special package for its guests.

The hotel, which was known as Yamato Hotel and played a historic role during the Indonesian struggle for independence on November 10, 1945 in Surabaya, offers meeting and birthday packages. These packages will run from July through September 2005.

The hotel's half-day meeting package is offered at a rate of Rp 85,000 for four hours while its full-day package is Rp 100,000 per eight hours. If you take either of these, you will be entitled to a Rp 100,000 dinner voucher and a stay in the hotel's Executive Suite room.

The hotel's birthday package is offered at between Rp 95,000 and Rp 115,000 with a free one night stay, a birthday cake and spa treatment.--JP
