Support for the attorney general

I would like to comment on and at the same time give my support to the steps taken by Attorney General Baharuddin Lopa to enforce the law. I do hope that the attorney general is serious in carrying out this task and not merely making empty promises. The public is already fed up with the country's so-called efforts at law enforcement, while in reality notorious corruptors, particularly those in the legislature, are not only hanging around enjoying their freedom, but also feeling like the saviors of the nation.

The corruptors are everywhere: in the legislative and executive branches and in other institutions. The most elusive ones -- as slick as eels -- are those in the legislative body, because they use their political parties as a shield. When the authorities try to get them, they say their arrest is tainted by politics. The public does not care about these excuses, what matters for them is that the corruptors are arrested and brought to justice.

I will pray that Baharudin Lopa has the guts and will not be dictated to by the statements of the elite and politicians who prevent the arrest of the corruptors in the legislature by giving various excuses. Law enforcement must begin from the legislative body (because they are said to represent the people). Prior to the arrest of other plunderers of smaller amounts, as a form of shock therapy and a deterrent these corruptors in the legislature must first be rounded up. Therefore, others will have to think twice before committing such offenses.
