Superior school admits 73 women

SEMARANG, Central Java: The military-run superior senior high
school Taruna Nusantara in Magelang has decided to admit female
students for the first time this year.

Antara reported that of the 316 students selected from among
13,000 applicants, 73 were female.

Two of the female students, Frida Haryanti and Didiet Fadilia,
led on Monday the welcoming ceremony attended by Minister of
Defense and Security Gen. (ret) Edi Sudradjat.

In the four years of its existence, the school has passed
1,024 students, mostly with high marks. Many of them were
subsequently accepted at military academies and prestigious
state-owned universities. (31)
