Superior school admits 73 women
SEMARANG, Central Java: The military-run superior senior high school Taruna Nusantara in Magelang has decided to admit female students for the first time this year.
Antara reported that of the 316 students selected from among 13,000 applicants, 73 were female.
Two of the female students, Frida Haryanti and Didiet Fadilia, led on Monday the welcoming ceremony attended by Minister of Defense and Security Gen. (ret) Edi Sudradjat.
In the four years of its existence, the school has passed 1,024 students, mostly with high marks. Many of them were subsequently accepted at military academies and prestigious state-owned universities. (31)
