Supeblocks sprouting in Jakarta

JAKARTA (JP): At present in Jakarta there are a number of
developments which have been dubbed superblocks by their
developers.

According to PT First Pacific Davies, an international
property consultant, a superblock is a large composite
development where several uses are combined.

One of the best examples found worldwide is Hong Kong's
Pacific Place Project. Pacific Place is made up of two five-star
hotels, an apartment complex, a large shopping center and two
office towers, First Pacific's spokeswoman Desy Mutialim said.

She said a recent study estimated that a total of 17
superblocks will be developed in Central Jakarta before the year
2000. Probably the first superblock to be completed will be Kota
BNI complex.

Wisma 46 forms the centerpiece of the Kota BNI superblock,
comprising offices, residential condominiums and a shopping
