Suparni breaks national record

JAKARTA (JP): Newcomer Suparni of Dewa Ruci club sharpened Indonesia's national record of the women's air rifle match at the National Interclub Shooting Championships in Palembang, South Sumatra, on Friday.

Suparni scored 393, one point above the old record made by former national shooter Aurora Maris at the 1995 Asia Shooting Championships in Jakarta. Gusti Ayu Indra followed in second place with 382 points and Nunung Kristiana was in third place with 381 points.

In the women's air rifle prone, Finny Rafiyanti of Karumbi club finished first with a total score of 597 points. Runner-up Elly Ch of Karumbi scored 593 followed by Kadarwati of Telkom club with 590 points.

The Indonesian Shooting and Hunting Association (Perbakin) spokesman, Djoko Purnomo, said in a fax that in the men's air rifle prone, Ari Setiatmoko of Timor club finished first with 592 points followed by Alexa Mukti of Telkom with 585 and Agus Surahman of Kartika club with 584. (yan)
