Sunda puppet show at Play House
The Mask and Sunda Puppet Show from Cirebon and Indramayu, West Java, will entertain visitors on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 at the Jakarta Play House as part of the programs of the Jakarta International Festival of the Performing Arts (JIFPA).
The show will be presented by the Sunda arts group named Lingkung Seni Jawa Barat under the coordination of Dr. End Suanda.
On the first night visitors will be entertained by a mask and puppet show entitled "Jaka Bluwo" which will be conducted by puppeteer Warsan from Gadingan, Indramayu.
On the second night visitors will be entertained by Cirebon mask, which features subtle, attractive and amusing movements. The puppet show will be led by world-renowned puppeteers Sutini, Wangin Indriya and Sujana Aja.
The third JIFPA, which was opened on Sept. 3, will run until Oct. 1.
Eight countries, being Japan, the Philippines, Australia, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, China and host Indonesia, are participating in the one month cultural event.
Some performing arts groups, including celebrity folk dance from the Philippines which was produced by Aurallo University Dance Troupe and dancers from host Indonesia, will also appear before the closing of JIFPA on Oct. 1 (has)
