Sulawesi to join tourism promo

UJUNGPANDANG, South Sulawesi: The province will take part in international tourism promotional activities in Malaysia and France early in 1997, a local official said.

The forums they will join are the ASEAN Tourism Forum in Malaysia next month and the Sail Mandel forum in France in March, according to Erwin Mansoer, head of the South Sulawesi office of the Ministry of Tourism, Post and Telecommunications here Sunday.

Mansoer said the number of Malaysian visitors to the province had increased over the past years due to, among other things, adequate support facilities, including direct flights linking Kuala Lumpur to Ujungpandang.

He said most foreign tourists visiting South Sulawesi came from Western Europe, especially France and Germany. (swe)
