Sukhois set for move to new air base
MAKASSAR, South Sulawesi: The Air Force is completing preparations to move four Russian-made Sukhoi jet fighters from Madiun to their new base in Makassar.
The head of the Air Force Second Operational Command overseeing eastern Indonesia, Rear Adm. I Gusti Made Oka, said on Monday a hangar and apron for the new aircraft were being built at the Makassar air base.
"Everything will be ready in the near future," Oka said on the sidelines of an exercise by the Air Force in Soroako, some 600 kilometers northeast of here.
Indonesia bought the Russian-made jet fighters last year following an arms embargo imposed by the United States. -- Antara
