Sukhoi test flight moved back
MAGETAN, East Java: The Air Force decided on Wednesday to move the scheduled test flight of two Sukhoi SU-27SK warplanes from Thursday to Sunday due to technical reasons.
An official from Iswahyudi Air Base told reporters that the test was postponed because technicians had not finished assembling the Russian-made jet fighters.
He also said that strong winds around the air base had also contributed to the decision to postpone the test.
"Apart from those two factors, the two Sukhois are still undergoing engine tests," the official was quoted by Antara as saying.
He said that the maiden flight would be closed to the public.
"But we promise that the next test flight on Wednesday, Sept. 17 will be open to the public and the press," he said.
He could not confirm whether President Megawati Soekarnoputri would be present on the occasion.
