Sugar truck driver robbed, murdered

JAKARTA (JP): A 30-year-old driver of a sugar transport truck was found dead in front of the Kampung Rambutan intercity bus terminal in East Jakarta at a few minutes past midnight on Tuesday.

According to a police report, several witnesses said that the driver, identified as Rosidi of Kampung Mekar in Lampung, was robbed by a gang of eight men in Tomang, West Jakarta, on Monday night.

"The truck which was carrying eight tons of sugar was later taken by some of the robbers and Rosidi was taken to a location using a Kijang minivan where he was then murdered," the report said.

Rosidi's body had then been dumped in front of the bus terminal before being discovered by several people, the report said.
