Sudjana wins award

JAKARTA (JP): Minister of Mines and Energy I.B. Sudjana and State Minister of Environment Sarwono Kusumaatmadja will receive Sanobar awards for energy development and environmental care in Indonesia.

Sanobar Foundation chairman, Victor Malonda, told The Jakarta Post Tuesday that his foundation would also present a similar award to East Kalimantan Governor G.H.M. Ardans for encouraging business investment in Kalimantan's mining sector.

Malonda said they would receive the awards later this month.

The foundation, recently appointed by the state-owned coal company PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam as its coal bricket agent in Jakarta, was set up on Mar. 23, 1994 to promote energy efficiency and to encourage the use of coal bricket.

The foundation -- in cooperation with the Pacific Rim Center at the United States' Tulane University, New Orleans -- has also established the Center for Energy and Environmental Technology in Indonesia. (bnt)
