Sudi apologizes to residents

SURABAYA: Incumbent East Java Military Chief Maj. Gen. Sudi Silalahi, who will hand over his post to Maj. Gen. Achmad Djunaedi Sikki soon, apologized to the people of East Java for possible mistakes he had made during his tenure.

"I also apologize for any shortcomings committed officially, personally or in everyday communication," Sudi said in his letter, a copy of which was distributed to Antara on Tuesday.

Sudi, who was appointed East Java Military chief on Nov. 1, 1999, also said farewell.

The transfer ceremony from Sudi to Sikki will be held on Oct. 18 in Surabaya. --Antara
