Students want better management

BOGOR: Dozens of students of Pharmacology Vocational High School (SKMF) protested outside the Bogor City Council, demanding that legislators help them settle matters pertaining to the school's management.

First year student Rohani, 16, said that the management had deceived parents and students by promising good facilities.

"Teachers come and go, while we often have to move to other buildings because the management cannot pay the rent for the school building on Jl. Pandu Raya, Indraprasta. It was earlier claimed that this building was owned by the school but actually the rent was four months in arrears, as well as electricity and water bills."

She said that students had earlier complained to the education agency, saying that the school, which is under the Yayasan Angkatan 84 foundation, should not have been licensed.

Deputy headmaster Woro Budirahayu said the school could not afford permanent teachers. He accused the owner of the school building and students of the Pharmacology Institute, who had recently moved to their own campus, of provoking the students. -- JP
