Students to camp at museum

JAKARTA: The National Awakening Museum, better known as the Stovia building, at Jl. Abdul Rahman Saleh 26, Central Jakarta, is to host a camp-out for students on Aug. 9 and Aug. 10.

Dewi Murwaningrum, an official at the museum, told The Jakarta Post on Tuesday that the event was expected to familiarize students with the museum. It is also to coincide the museum's Independence Day celebration on Aug. 17.

Students will spend a night in tents within the complex of the country's first vocational school, which was built by the Dutch colonial administration 104 years ago.

The Stovia, the abbreviation for School tot Opleiding van Inlandsche Artsen (Vocational School of Medicine for Indigenous Doctors), was the birthplace of the Boedi Oetomo Movement on May 28, 1908, which was later commemorated as National Awakening Day.
