Students suspended for alcohol

PONOROGO, East Java: Seven students from a senior high school in Ponorogo have been dismissed for partaking in a liquor party after school last week.

Deputy school principal Diyono Suwito said that what the seven students had done was tarnishing the school image. "We have had to return them to their parents."

Three of the students were nabbed by local police for drinking liquor at a sugarcane plantation near the school. The police then reported it to the school principal, who then summoned the three.

The three students said that another four students joined the "party."

According to Suwito, the seven were all considered troublemakers at school. -- Antara
