Students report disruption
BOGOR: Some 50 students of the Pharmaceutical Institute (STIFAR) lodged a complaint with the Bogor city council on Tuesday over the disruption of activities at the school.
The students reported that the school had been closed by the school management reportedly due to financial constraints since Dec. 16.
The management failed to give the students clear reasons for the temporary closure. It only said in a posted notice that activities would resume on Feb. 3.
Dadang, a lecturer at the school who accompanied the students, said school employees, including lecturers, refused to come to work as the management had failed to pay their salaries.
In response to their complaint, head of Bogor City Council Commission E Sony Sondiamon vowed to summon Darwin Jamal, chairman of the Dynamics of the Indonesian Environment Foundation (YDLHI), which manages the school, for clarification.
More than 60 students, mostly from outside Bogor, study at the institute.--JP
