Students protest fuel shortage

BALIKPAPAN, East Kalimantan: Dozens university students took to the street on Wednesday, protesting against the government for the fuel scarcity in the city. The students, who also staged a protest in front of the office of the Balikpapan city office, lashed out at the city government for being sluggish in handling the fuel scarcity. They said the oil scarcity was ironic given that the largest oil refinery in the country is located in the city.

Amir, protest coordinator and the chief of Indonesian Nationalist Student Movement (GMNI), demanded that the government quickly take concerted efforts to tackle the fuel crisis. -- Antara
