Students protest at Bekasi council

BEKASI: Hundreds of college students staged a protest in front of the Bekasi City Council on Tuesday to highlight what they said was the failure of the country's development policy.

The students, from various student associations, also urged an investigation into alleged embezzlement involving the city's 2005 budget.

"We strongly urge the local prosecutor's office to probe the matter and arrest all those involved," protest leader Hilaludin said.

Bekasi Chief Prosecutor Ferry Wibisono said that his office was currently investigating 10 corruption cases and had brought several other cases before the local court. -- Antara
