Students loot, vandalize

BOGOR (JP): Armed with machetes and sickles, high school students attacked a school building, damaging two cars belonging to the school principals, looting a car cassette player, a telephone, and stealing some money.

Ridwan, vice principal of Yayasan Zaelani Almansyur (YZA) high school, said that a number of students from PGRI II vocational high school made the attack on Wednesday on the YZA High School/Vocational High School.

They vandalized the Suzuki minivan belonging to the vocational school principal, and took Rp 2.9 million in cash from the car. The other minivan belonging to the high school principal was also damaged and the cassette player stolen. The students later took a telephone from the administration room.

On the same day, another group of students of PGRI III high school were involved in a brawl with students of Bharatama vocational high school.

The incident occurred when students of Bharatama vocational school demanded money from a student from the PGRI III. A fight broke out between the two groups of students. They fought using sharp weapons as well as homemade bombs.

The students only stopped fighting after police came and arrested 16 of them. Two students were injured in the brawl. (21)
