Students ask for death probe

BOGOR (JP): Some 500 high school students marched on Wednesday to the City Council building demanding the completion of the investigation into the death of their classmate, Dede Sulaeman, who was killed in an attack on Monday.

Accompanied by their school principal and teachers, the students of the SMK YZA vocational high school demanded that the police apprehend the suspected murderers who are students of the SMK YKTB vocational high school.

A group of armed students from SMK YKTB jumped onto a public minivan on Monday and attacked Dede and his friend, Zaenal Arifin, and then fled from the scene.

On Tuesday, some 100 students from SMK YZA ran amok at the school building complex belonging to SMK YKTB.

The protesters were received by councillor Eman Sulaeman who promised to follow up with the investigation and asked the SMK YTKB to put more heed to security at their school.

Eman told SMK YZA and SMK YKTB to declare a three-day holiday for their students and asked the authorities of both schools to meet next Monday to solve the problem.

Chief of Bogor Tengah Police subprecinct Sr. Insp. Uba Subandi said four suspects, identified as Heri Irawan, Hasan Basrie, Eko Budi and Aep Jaelani, had been detained for further investigation. (07)
