Students arrested in stolen car

JAKARTA (JP): Police have arrested four men, three of them students at a private university in Cirebon, for burglary.

They were caught on the Cikampek toll road Wednesday at kilometer 30 in Cibitung, Bekasi, while fleeing the scene of the crime on Jl. Saleh, Cirebon, West Java.

The gang had made off with a Mercedes Benz car, jewelry, compact and laser disc players, a 20-inch television and other items belonging to the burgled house's owner, an entrepreneur called Farouk.

The four were named as students Antony Sapa, aged 22, Budi Wahyu Sejati, 22, Budianur, 20, and unemployed Anthonius Deku, 27.

Sapa and Deku had worked as security guards at Farouk's house.

Farouk's wife, who declined to be named, said Sapa had worked for nine months and Deku for five months.

Sapa and Deku had allegedly robbed Farouk's house early Wednesday while no one was at home.

Sapa had asked Wahyu, who told his friends he was a lousy driver, to drive the Mercedes after they robbed the house. Wahyu was the only one of the four who could drive.

Farouk's wife said the four had stolen 90 grams of jewelry, including 11 grams of diamonds. (cst)
