Student stabbed to death in brawl
JAKARTA (JP): A student of the privately run Mercu Suar technical senior high school in East Jakarta was stabbed to death yesterday by students from another private technical high school during a brawl at a bus shelter in Bekasi.
The victim, Bambang Supriadi, who was stabbed in the chest, died at Mitra Keluarga Hospital in East Jakarta. None of the students have been arrested.
Bambang and several schoolmates had been waiting for a bus yesterday morning when a group of students from another school attacked them, a relative of the victim told reporters yesterday at the morgue in Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital, where Bambang's body had been transferred for a post-mortem examination.
Three students from different private technical high schools were killed in separate brawls early this month in West, North and Central Jakarta.
Sularto, a student from a school in downtown Kota, West Jakarta, was tortured to death by one of four students in a brawl on Jl. Latumeten in West Jakarta on Sept. 6.
Police have arrested three of the four students.
Jamot, a student from a North Jakarta technical high school, was stabbed to death by students from a private senior high school on Sept. 6 on Jl. Jembatan Tiga, Penjaringan district, in North Jakarta.
Bactiar Effendi, a student of a private technical high school in Central Jakarta was fatally stabbed in the stomach by a group of students from another private senior high school on Sept. 10 on Jl. Kramat Raya in Central Jakarta.
The suspected killers of Jamot and Bachtiar are still at large.
At least 12 students have died in separate brawls in the city over the past six months. (jun)
