Student dies from drug overdose

JAKARTA (JP): A 22-year-old university student was found dead at the house of a classmate in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, on Friday afternoon, an employee at the Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital morgue said.

The victim, identified as Danni Pajaw of Cilincing, is believed to have died from a drug overdose, the employee said.

The victim was taken to the hospital by police at about 3:30 p.m. for a postmortem examination.

As of last night, there has been no official statement from the police on Danni's death.

The hospital also admitted the body of 60-year-old fisherman Nawi, who was reported to have died after his boat collided with another vessel in the early hours of Friday in the waters of Cilincing off the Jakarta Bay.

Two other people in the boat, Nawi's son Karmadi, 20, and nephew, Calin, were rescued by nearby fishermen.

The body of Nawi was later found by members of the Sea and Air Police Corps.

Police have not yet identified the vessel which collided with Nawi's boat. (06)
