Student criminals deserve harsh punishment

We've been fed up upon hearing reports on school students hijacking city bus. The latest incident took place on Wednesday when scores of students of a technical high school in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, hijacked a bus and terrified the passengers.

It is quiet unreasonable that the police released them after having them shaved bald, letting them sit down in sunlight for hours and forcing them to listen to a speech on high morale. The wisdom, which is good for normal students, could not be applied to student criminals.

We suggest that the police are tougher and take legal proceeding for such students. Hopefully, the move will bring about positive results.

The police have been too tolerant to student criminals, arguing that they are just mischievous school boys. The fact that the quality of the crimes committed by the students must make the police aware that the students deserve severe punishment.

Students brawls have actually reached an alarming level as many of them have been killed during the brawls.

Student criminals have obviously worsened the educational quality which is in fact inferior.
