Student climber goes missing

MATARAM, West Nusa Tenggara: Edo Armanto, a student from
Jakarta, went missing during a climbing trip on Mt. Rinjani in
East Lombok with a group of friends, Antara reported yesterday.

The students started out on Aug. 28. By yesterday, only Edo
had failed to return to base, according to East Lombok deputy
police chief Capt. Kudsi.

The police have yet to identify all the members of the 12-
strong climbing party, but have sent a team to search for Edo.
"We're calling on all nature lovers and the community to help us
search for the student," Kudsi said.

The 3,726 meter Rinjani is the highest mountain in the
province and a great tourist attraction. (swe)
