Student basketball league to start

JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Basketball Association and the
Ministry of Education and Culture are to stage an NCAA-like
Students' Basketball League in Surabaya this March.

Promoter Ary Sudarsono said yesterday 16 universities from 10
regional student sports organizations will participate in the
pre-league.

All players must be under 25 years old and not be members of
the national team or the professional Kobatama basketball league
teams.

Through league matches systems like this the association hopes
to find new talent for the national team. (yan)
