Student arrested with marijuana

JAKARTA (JP): A sixteen-year-old student has been arrested in Tangerang's Legok district for allegedly using and possessing marijuana, police said.

City Police spokesman Lt. Col. E. Aritonang yesterday said that his office had also arrested a housewife suspected to be the student's supplier.

Aritonang identified the junior high school student as Ahyar Santisa and the woman as Jacqueline, 33.

He said Ahyar was arrested around 2 a.m. Wednesday during a routine police roadblock to check passersby and commuters around the Jasma Indah housing estate in Legok.

"Ahyar was stopped for examination by officers while he was riding his motorcycle home to the estate. While being frisked, police officers found two packages of marijuana in his shirt," he said.

It remains unclear why the police also charged the boy for having consumed the marijuana.

The student reportedly admitted the drugs were his and told the officers that he had just bought it from a woman near his house, he said.

Aritonang said the woman was arrested an hour later. But police found no drugs at her house. (cst)
