Strike leaders get fired

SEMARANG: A local union leader said that many workers who went on strike have been fired by their employers once the disputes were over.

"This is occurring at many companies in the province," said Tambah Soedjio, head of the local chapter of the All Indonesian Workers Union (SPSI).

Soedjio said he has referred these cases to the tripartite labor mediating council, which comprises representatives of workers, employers and the government, hoping that the strike leaders can be rehired by their employers. (har)
