Strike hits Bali hotel
NUSA DUA, Bali: More than 100 employees of Nusa Dua Beach Hotel went on strike yesterday, demanding a 100-percent raise in wages and transport allowance.
The strike practically crippled the 380-room five-star hotel on Thursday, although some workers refused to join.
Striking workers said yesterday they staged the sit-in after the management failed to respond to their demand, submitted on May 1. They had given the management until June 1 to respond.
Stefan Fenanlampir, the hotel's human resources Manager, declined to comment, on the grounds he has been with the hotel only six months.
The hotel, partly owned by the Brunei royal family, has just been renovated. (23/pan)
