Street children told not to be provoked

JAKARTA (JP): The National Commission on Children's Rights (Komnas PA) met with a group of street children and warned them not be provoked by people who wanted riots in the capital, a commission official said on Thursday.

The program, jointly held by the commission and Menteng police, is designed to stop the street children from being used by parties who desire to instigate riots during the coming General Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR).

"Hopefully, by talking to them directly, we can keep them from being provoked by certain parties to achieve their political goals," Seto Mulyadi said while having lunch with the children in a vacant lot in Menteng, Central Jakarta.

The commission plans to continue to implement the program across Jakarta, Seto added. (04)
