Stray bullet wounds tofu vendor

JAKARTA (JP): A tofu vendor was shot in the leg while passing along Jl. Rempang Block C in Jati Makmur naval housing complex, Pondok Gede, Bekas, on Thursday.

Adang, the 32-year-old vendor, was immediately taken to Bekasi General Hospital by local resident Komarudin.

Komar told journalists at the hospital emergency unit that Adang was selling tofu in the complex when he felt a sudden pain in his left calf.

"When he stopped to see what was causing the pain in his calf, he found that it was bleeding," Komar said.

Komar said a vegetable vendor named Endang shouted when he saw Adang's bleeding left calf, piquing the complex residents' curiosity.

"But the Bekasi General Hospital cannot remove the bullet from Adang's leg because there is no surgical doctor present to perform such an operation," he said.

According to Komar, the hospital could only give first aid and said that the bullet could probably be removed on Tuesday.

Jati Asih Police substation was surprised when contacted by The Jakarta Post about the incident.

Comr. YS Muryono said the police had yet to receive a report about the shooting.(01)
