'STOP' campaign starts
JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation's Women's Association for Justice (LBH-APIK) in cooperation with the city police and land transportation agency have distributed 10,000 stickers as part of an anti-sexual harassment campaign.
The purple stickers read "STOP Sexual Harassment" and have started to appear on public transport vehicles in the city.
The stickers, which were released last weekend, also carry a hotline number for victims of sexual abuse, and an address at which help can be sought. The address is Jl. Radar AURI D5 No. 4 in Cimanggis, Bogor, telephone number (021) 8725383 and 8726343. Letters can also be sent to PO BOX 1027 DP 16400.
According to Nursyahbani Katjasungkana, an APIK activist, the campaign is designed to raise awareness of female abuse and the rapes which occurred during the May riots.
"At least people will remember these horrible incidents through this campaign. The stickers are just a medium to express the message," she said. (edt)
