Stalin said it

I refer to the article The Vatican: An inside view by an RI diplomat (The Jakarta Post, Jan. 25, 2000). With all due respect, Mr. Ambassador to the Holy See, the remark: "The Vatican, how many divisions?" was, allegedly, interjected by Stalin, not Napoleon Bonaparte who was crowned, as Emperor Napoleon I, by the Pope in a Paris cathedral (as a matter of fact he crowned himself in front of the Pope).

The ceremony was recorded by the official painter Louis David in a famous painting found reproduced in most history books.
