Stackhouse, Jordan guide Wizards past Celtics

Jerry Stackhouse scored 37 points and NBA Player of the Week Michael Jordan had 19 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists to lead the Washington Wizards to a 100-95 win over the Boston Celtics in NBA action on Monday.

The Wizards improved to .500 and won their fourth straight game as they solidified their hold on the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Stackhouse scored 16 of his points in the fourth quarter and the 39-year-old Jordan hit a key basket late in the game to give Washington the lead for good while playing 40 minutes.

Larry Hughes added 16 points for the Wizards, who trailed by nine points at the half. Paul Pierce had 30 points, six assists and six rebounds for the Celtics, who lost their second straight.

Antoine Walker added 17 points, five rebounds and five assists, but neither of the Boston stars were a factor down the stretch.

Tony Battie added 10 points and 15 rebounds for the Celtics.

In Atlanta, Jason Kidd and Lucious Harris both had 21 points as the New Jersey Nets won their 10th straight game, a 101-94 win over the Hawks.

Kenyon Martin and Richard Jefferson both added 17 points for the Nets, while Martin also hauled down 12 rebounds.

New Jersey is 26-9 and has the best winning percentage in the Eastern Conference and second best in the NBA.

Jason Terry had 27 points for Atlanta, losers of five in a row. Glenn Robinson added 23 points.

In Philadelphia, Jermaine O'Neal scored the winning basket with 1.6 seconds remaining in overtime to give the Indiana Pacers a 105-104 win over the 76ers.

O'Neal had 17 points and 13 rebounds to help the Pacers end a two-game losing streak while the 76ers lost their third game in a row and their sixth loss in the last seven games.

Al Harrington scored 28 points for Indiana, while Reggie Miller added 19 and Erick Strickland had 17 points and 10 assists.

Allen Iverson led all scorers with 32 points for Philadelphia. Derrick Coleman added 18 points and 14 rebounds.

In Orlando, Tracy McGrady had 28 points, seven rebounds and nine assists to lead the Magic to a 103-100 win over the New York Knicks.

Mike Miller had 22 points for Orlando, while Pat Garrity had 19 for the Magic, which snapped a two-game losing streak.

Latrell Sprewell scored 28 points for the Knicks, but missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer in the dying seconds.

Allan Houston added 15 points for New York, while Kurt Thomas added 14 points and nine rebounds.

In Cleveland, Ray Allen scored 27 points to lead the Milwaukee Bucks past the Cavaliers 106-94.

Tim Thomas added 20 points for Milwaukee, which snapped a two- game losing streak.

Ricky Davis scored 22 points for Cleveland, the NBA's worst team at 7-29.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Dajuan Wagner both added 20 points for the Cavaliers, who have lost nine of their past 11 games.

In Auburn Hills, Clifford Robinson had 25 points and 11 rebounds for his first career double-double as the Detroit Pistons handed the Toronto Raptors their 11th straight defeat, 82-74.

Richard Hamilton added 16 points and Corliss Williamson chipped in 12 for the Pistons, who won for the 10th time in 13 games.

Antonio Davis had 21 points for the Raptors (8-27). Alvin Williams had 14 points while Jerome Williams added 13 points and 15 rebounds.

Toronto has lost 15 of its last 16 games.

In Memphis, Jason Williams had 28 points and 14 assists as the Grizzlies defeated the New Orleans Hornets 106-102.

Pau Gasol added 24 points for the Grizzlies, winners of two games in a row.

In Chicago, Jalen Rose had 31 points as the Bulls beat the Utah Jazz for the first time since Michael Jordan left, downing Utah 113-98.

The Jazz had beaten the Bulls 10 consecutive times in the regular season dating back to 1998 and Utah hadn't lost to Chicago since Jordan beat them in Game Six of the NBA Finals in 1998.

In Denver, Raef LaFrentz had season highs of 16 points and 11 rebounds against his former team as the Dallas Mavericks downed the Nuggets 86-71.

In Oakland, Antawn Jamison scored 22 points and had 12 rebounds to lead the Golden State Warriors to a 99-85 win over the Miami Heat.
