Sports, arts at UGM anniversary

To commemorate its 56th anniversary, state Gadjah Mada University of Yogyakarta will hold several events, ranging from science seminars to sports and art festivals.

Hundreds of lecturers and their families will take part in a fun bike ride around the university campus in Bulak Sumur on Sunday. There will be prizes from sponsors for participants.

The anniversary committee is also organizing an arts festival, which will include performances by traditional dance and drama troupes on Dec. 4 and a wayang kulit puppet show on Dec. 18.

There will also be a scientific research day and several science seminars on Dec. 16. The events will culminate with a ceremony on Dec. 19 to mark the university's anniversary.
