Sports and music events
I would really appreciate it if The Jakarta Post could print more information about entertainment and athletic events. The "Where To Go In Jakarta" section usually reprints the local pub bands and the happy hours at hotels. But, for instance, information accompanying the picture of the Vienna Boys Choir just said they are performing at the Grand Hyatt.
Your paper did not list ticket prices or performance times. I would really like to know about such concerts in advance instead of when they are nearly over or finished.
Its very difficult in Jakarta to find out information, even when you call the places where by word of mouth you heard about an event you would like to see.
Also many expatriates would like to go and see the fairly new Indonesian professional basketball league games when their season starts up again in May. I would think the sponsors and promoters of this league, which has international players from America and other countries, would pay for space in the Post to announce game schedules and results. Why the total non-coverage of such a newsworthy event as an international professional basketball league?
The microscopic movie listing is also pretty sorry. Much more space should be given to cover the major theaters in Jakarta with times and prices and special matinee prices.
How many Post readers knew that Kareem Abdul Jabar was at the Pondok Indah Mall a couple of weeks ago? We usually find out all of this type of information by word of mouth and often times too late to make all the arrangements to arrive at the event.
Jakartans really have to plan for traffic and other things. How about a story on the renowned soccer player from Cameroon now playing for an Indonesian pro soccer team? Better yet, how about letting some of the English speaking soccer fans know about an upcoming game so they can see him perform?
