S'poreans go for stability

The notion that opposition has a role in Singapore can hardly stand after the recent general election. Long before voters cast their votes, SDP, the opposition party which had the most seats in parliament, suffered from credibility woes with in-fighting and disappointing performance in Select Committees.

The Workers Party failed to woo Cheng San GRC on volative communal issues. Although two opposition incumbents have been returned and 35 percent of votes still go to the opposition, Singapore voters have shown they want stability and credible opposition.
