Sponsors of disabled awarded

JAKARTA: A number of individuals, government officials,
foundations and companies were awarded on Tuesday for their
contribution to the empowerment of disabled people.

The awards were given to, among others, Johana Sunarti
Nasution Gondokusumo, the wife of the late Gen. Abdul Haris
Nasution, Kuningan Regent Arifin Setiamiharja, the late L.
Manurung, Asih Budi Foundation and PT Microsoft Indonesia.

Sartono Mukadis, deputy chairman of the national committee for
the commemoration of the International Day of Disabled Persons,
said that the awarding was based on the awardees' sincere service
to the disabled.

"They have set good examples for all people on how empower the
disabled. It's just a matter of goodwill," Sartono said. --Antara
