Speeding truck kills two women

KARANGANYAR, Central Java: A speeding truck slammed into a
group of women in Balong village here on Tuesday evening, killing
two and wounding three others.

The fatalities were identified as Mrs. Ahmad, 55, and Mrs.
Kasban, 60, both local residents.

The women were walking on the sidewalk on their way home from
a Koran reading when the truck driver lost control of the vehicle
while taking a bend, local police chief Lt. Col. Soedarsono said.

Soedarsono said the driver, Suyadi, was being questioned over
the fatal accident. (har)
