Special treatment for traffic in Puncak

BOGOR, West Java (JP): Six hundred police and 300 people from the Scout movement, the military and youth organizations will be deployed to manage traffic to the Puncak resort on New Year's Eve.

Bogor Police Chief Lt. Col. Ruslan Riza said most of the 900 personnel would be at Puncak where thousands are expected to flock to motels, villas and other entertainment centers.

Police are providing five stops. These are at Evergreen Villa, Telaga Warna, Mega Mendung, Simpang Safari and Riung Gunung hotels.

"Holiday revelers can report anything about their security to the police stops," Ruslan said.

Two other stops would be opened by the youth organizations and Scouts. These are at Gunung Mas and the Gadok crossing to help holidaymakers with first aid and traffic information, Ruslan said.

Ruslan could not say how many cars would enter the Puncak resort area on New Year's Eve but said public buses going to Bandung would be detoured through Sukabumi or Jonggol. (24)
