MONTE CARLO: Carlos Sainz stamped his and Toyota's authority on the 1998 World Rally Championship with a win in the prestigious Monte Carlo Rally.

The win was extra sweet for Toyota which had just returned to rallying after a two-year ban for cheating.

The rally was also the first outing for the new Corolla rally car and Carlos' first event back with Toyota after a stint with Ford during Toyota's ban.
