Sophia takes off shoes for Chrisye

Actress-cum-singer Sophia Latjuba, 31, stole the spotlight during the launch of singer Chrisye's new album Dekade on Wednesday.

Dozen of photographers flocked around the small stage as Sophia, in jeans and T-shirt, entered the room.

"Hey, I was here first, why were there only a few photographers?" musician Erwin Gutawa said from the stage, being answered by a chorus of good-natured boos.

On his new album, the 53-year-old Chrisye performs two duets with Sophia.

"I think she has a unique voice. No one is more suitable for the songs than her," said Chrisye of Sophia.

Sophia did not think twice when Chrisye asked her to appear on the album.

"I said yes right away. I was sure whatever the song it would be good coming from a singer the caliber of him," she said.

Then came the time for Chrisye, Sophie and Erwin -- who arranged the music on the album -- to pose together. The slender Sophie towered over Erwin and Chrisye, so the photographers asked her to take off her shoes.

So she removed her shoes before the three struck a pose. -- JP
