SonyEricsson responds

In response to the letter SonyEricsson unprofessional from Martin Mulo on Aug. 13, we would like to clarify the matter.

Mulo came to ITC Roxy Mas Service Center with his SonyEricsson T68i cellular phone without a warranty card as the product was purchased in Dubai.

Our service center had checked the product and found that the GSM 1800 facility could not be activated. For a cellular phone without a warranty, whether purchased within the country or in a different country, the repair process and swapping will be charged at the applicable service center rate. Our service centers also allow flexibility in providing a guarantee for international travelers provided the customer fulfills the requirements consisting of passport, driver's license from the country of origin and the original receipt from the licensed distributor of the country of origin.

We provide a manual and a service and support brochure in the product box for every purchase. It has been clearly indicated on page 84 and page 85 of the manual under Limited Warranty that the original receipt must be kept for warranty repair claims. Should the product need warranty service, the original receipt must be shown to the dealer from whom it was purchased, or the local Sony Ericsson customer care center. Or one can visit www.SonyEricsson.com to get further information.

Limited warranty, as stated in the manual and on the warranty card, is issued in almost every country. For particular countries that do not issue a warranty card, the warranty service is applicable for local dealers or at the outlet where the customer purchased the product.
