Sony offers scholarships

JAKARTA (JP): The audio-video maker Sony Group will present a number of scholarships to prominent final-grade students of state universities as part of the company's program to support education and training programs in Indonesia.

Harismawan Wahyuadi of PT Sony Indonesia said here yesterday that 17 students were scheduled to receive scholarships from his company tomorrow.

"The 17 students, from Gadjah Mada University, ITB, ITS, Brawijaya University, Diponegoro University and University of Indonesia, have been selected from 1,118 candidates," he said.

Sony extends Rp 1.5 million and Rp 2 million per year for polytechnic and university students respectively, he added.

"After being assisted during their final research, the students will have the chance to work in one of the Sony companies."

Sony Indonesia deals with the sales, marketing and after-sales service of Japanese Sony audio-visual products. There are three other Sony subsidiaries in Indonesia, including PT Sony Electronics Indonesia, PT Sony Manufacturing Indonesia and PT Sony Music Entertainment Indonesia. (icn)
