Some PTDI employees return to work
BANDUNG: Only 1,428 out of nearly 10,000 employees of troubled state aerospace company PT Dirgantara Indonesia (DI) have returned to work since the management suspended them almost three weeks ago.
A press statement from the company's management said that these employees worked in the aircraft, aerostructure, maintenance, engineering services, and corporate divisions of the state firm.
Company spokesman Rakhendi Triatna said the employees were now engaged in the final assembly of three CN-235 aircraft ordered by the Pakistani Air Force and a CN-235 aircraft ordered by the Malaysian Royal Air Force, conducting maintenance on helicopters belonging to the Air Force, Navy and the Kutai regency administration, and arranging the supply of spare parts to the air forces of Pakistan, Malaysia, South Korea and Thailand.
He said further redeployment of suspended workers would depend on how the company's business grew.
The cash-strapped company has said it could only redeploy 3,000 of the suspended employees.
The government has placed the company under the supervision of the Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency. Some have accused the government of planning to sell the company. -- Antara
