Terminal 3 of the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport will be operational in December, president director of state-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II Edie Haryoto said Thursday.
"The new terminal will be able to handle four million people, increasing the airport's capacity to 22 million people per year," Edie said.
"With construction costing Rp 500 billion, the new terminal will be able to serve the super jumbo 550-seat Airbus 380 airplanes."
Edie was speaking at a seminar titled "Preparing Indonesian Aviation Industry Toward the Growing Challenge of ASEAN Liberalization".
The new terminal is located to the east of Terminal 2 and will be connected with Terminal 2F by a walkway.

Edie also said the airport ranked sixth for on-time performance, according to Forbes Traveler.
The top five are Haneda Airport in Tokyo, Narita in Tokyo, Taiwan Taoyuan in Taipei, Kingsford Smith in Sydney and Hong Kong International Airport.
Soekarno-Hatta tied with Suvarnabhumi in Bangkok followed by Orlando International airport in Oregon in eighth place, Franz Josef Strauss in Munich while, George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas completed the top 10.
"This achievement is to be proud of as it is recognized by an international institution," said Edie. (****)
