Soeharto's land investigated

JAKARTA (JP): Minister of Agrarian Affairs/National Land Agency Chairman Hasan Basri Durin said on Tuesday properties owned by former president Soeharto would be confiscated if it was proven they were obtained illegally.

Antara reported that Hasan made the comment after receiving a team from the Attorney General's Office investigating Soeharto for allegedly amassing a fortune worth trillions of rupiah during his 32-year rule.

The team, led by the head of intelligence operations at the Attorney General's Office Sudibyo Saleh, met with Durin to collect data on Soeharto and his family's properties across the country. (byg)
